Check Your Tire Pressure
Colder weather can take a toll on a vehicle, especially when it comes to your tires. Cold air is less dense than warm air, which means that when the temperature drops, your tire pressure may too. Many newer cars have tire pressure sensors and monitors that will tell you when it’s time to get air, but if you’re driving an older vehicle without these electronic sensors, it’s important to check before hitting the road to ensure your tire pressure is correct.
Check Your Fluids
Antifreeze, oil, windshield washer fluid – run low on any of these and your travel plans may come to a grinding halt. Before you take off, check your fluid levels and top off as needed. Your vehicle and your passengers will thank you!
Check Your Documents
Make sure you have your valid driver’s license, registration, insurance and owner’s manual in your vehicle before departure. Hopefully your holiday travel goes smoothly and you don’t need any of these, but if you do it’s much better to have them easily accessible and up-to-date.

Creating a travel plan can be one of the most useful things you do. Much of the headache of travel comes either from poor planning or a complete lack of planning. Creating a plan that avoids traffic-prone areas or includes travel at off-peak times is something to be thankful for!
